WHAT TO DO WITH JEALOUSLY.

Jealousy is something we all deal with from time to time. It can come over you in an instant, change your perspective, and ruin your week. Emotions are hard things to control. So, when jealous comes over you, it can easily make you feel helpless and defeated. Here’s a few things you do when you start to feel jealous.

TIP ONE- Bring it to God!

Sometimes we can hesitate to bring our ugly thoughts and emotions to God in prayer, because they’re....well... ugly. Yet, God is not surprised by any of this. He knows our thoughts. He knows our feelings. He is still here for us.

God longs for a meaningful relationship with you. So, He wants it all. The good, bad, and the ugly. When we acknowledge and lay before Him our jealousy, He can work and mold our hearts and minds toward truth. We don’t need to pretend with God! Remember...

But God demonstrates his own for us in this: While were were still sinners, Christ died for us.
-Romans 5:8

TIP TWO- Practice Gratitude

Practicing gratitude in moments of jealous can help refocus your perspective. Take a moment and just pray words of thankfulness to God, even for the basic things we take for granted. Another option would be to sit down and write out 10 things you can be thankful that God has given you! You might not feel gratitude in the moment, but will help you put your perspective on truth!

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you
-1 Thessalonians 5:18

Scripture: Maybe start by reading one chapter a day. You could even do a shorter amount. Take a look at the scripture that you are reading and write out the one verse that spoke to you the most.

Observe: What captured your attention as you read this passage? Did God speak to you as you were reading it? What did you learn or observe from the passage?

Apply: What part of this scripture can you apply to your life? What will change in your life if you do?

Pray: Ask God to give you a clear understanding of this scripture. Ask Him to help you apply it to your life. Pray that scripture over yourself.

TIP THREE- Read with Someone!

Living out the Christian walk was never meant to do alone! Having someone alongside you to be able to answer questions, give perspective, and communicate how God spoke to them through a passage is essential!
